DESCRIPTION:Another successful year ✔️ Over 40 surgeries performed ranging from hernias to thyroids to laparoscopic surgery! It was lovely being back in Ghana and at Pleasant Medical Centre. Already planning and looking forward to next year! \nWe continue to provide other general surgical services to those in need. While there are public and private healthcare facilities providing surgical services in Ghana\, the costs involved are prohibitive for the overwhelming segment of the population. DESCRIPTION:As part of a DDA initiative\, a team of physicians from the USA will provide free surgical services annually to the underserved in Ghana. These surgical interventions will primarily be aimed at treating digestive diseases such as diverticulitis\, hemorrhoids\, fissures\, and several other digestive disorders which are commonly encountered\, but severely undertreated in Ghana. \nIn addition to treating digestive disorders\, other general surgical services will also be provided to those in need. SUMMARY:1st Annual Fundraising Gala\, 2022
DESCRIPTION:The Inaugural Gala of Digestive Diseases Aid was a success! Thank you to all who attended\, those who volunteered their time and efforts\, and to the generosity of our donors. Your support is truly appreciated.\n\n   \nWe were able to raise almost $45\,000!      \nIn April 2023\, a group of three surgeons\, one anesthesiologist and two nurses will be traveling to Ashaiam\, Ghana to provide free surgeries to patients at Pleasant Medical Centre. We will also be able to purchase a much-needed anesthesia machine. This would not have been possible without you.\n\n125 people attended the gala and danced the night away at the City of Raleigh Museum. Guests came from all over including Ghana\, Arizona\, Connecticut\, Michigan\, North Dakota\, Delaware\, Florida\, Maryland\, Virginia\, South Carolina and of course\, North Carolina. \nA total of twenty-one items were auctioned. Winners will be enjoying vacations at the beaches of North Carolina\, Disneyworld in Orlando\, beautiful art from Africa\, sports games\, golf and spa time. \nWe look forward to seeing you next year! \nVisit the Gallery
